Another of my recipes

I thought i would share another of my recipes with you. Even though it is spring here in Australia, you wouldnt think so. Its cold and raining. Which is a perfect day for Pea And Ham Soup. I like to make this in the slow cooker or crock pot and I find its perfect for days like today when we have a busy evening planned.
This recipe serves the 4 of us with left overs.
Pea & Ham Soup
In your Slow Cooker you put
2 Stalks of Celery diced
1 Onion diced
1 large carrot diced
1 garlic clove crushed or finely chopped

Then into a seive put 250g of yellow split peas and 25og of green split peas. rinse well and add to the slow cooker.
I use bacon for the recipe but you can use bacon hocks, i find them a bit too fatty.
Roughly chop approx 500g of bacon and add to slow cooker.
Add 2 or 3 chicken stock cubes and fill with water to just below the rim of the pot. I usually go to about 1 inch blow the inner rim.
Add salt and pepper
turn on Auto or low and let cook for hours. I tend to put it on around 10 -11am ready for tea around 5.30 -6pm
give it an occasional stir if you like, if its getting too thick you can always add more water or stock
When ready check for seasoning and serve with crusty bread.

Best Scone recipe

I thought that i just had to share my scone recipe.
I made them on Saturday night and they were the best scones ever
Recipe:
3 cups Self Raising Flour
1 cup full sugar Lemonade ( no diet stuff)
1 cup Cream

gently combine ingredients with a knife. I mix them slowly just turning it over until combined. Then on a floured board, gently knead for a min or 2 till its useable.
Flatten slightly to around 1 inch thick.
Use a cutter or dust a glass rim with flour to cut out rounds
Put on a tray lined with baking paper. Put scones close together slightly touching.
Brush with milk
Pop into a preheated oven approx 180 deg for 10 - 15 mins
Bring out when the tops are golden and the sides are still light.
Allow to cool and serve with jam and heaps of whipped cream YUM

Busy Time of Year

It must be something to do with the onset of Spring but September always seems to be so busy.
My girls school seems to be having events and things that I ahve to attend every week. Plus its time to get the garden and outside areas ready for the coming warm weather. Unfortunatly the patio has decided to leak..BIG TIME. That will take a bit of work to fix up.
Due to time constraints I wont continue with the weekly features but instead I will post new things and ideas and discoveries I make as I find them. I dont like to miss my blog days but when I have to attend school its hard to keep up.
I will still feature my fav shops now and again. Hope your day is dryer than mine will be today. looks like we are in for a wild and wooly day :)

Spring Is Finally Here In Australia

Well tomorrow to be exact. It must be the busy time of year. Its hard to not get side tracked with the spring cleaning. Plus the school seems full on with sports days, photos, enrollments for next year.
I know I should be working but the garden is in dire straits and needs a good clean up. I think it must be because the sun is shining so you see the grime more.
Over the next few weekends we will be fixing the roof on the patio, paving a section of lawn that refuses to grow, putting in a new garden bed, fertilising and mulching all the garden beds, giving the walls and paving a good wash.

We bought our dog a new bed yesterday. he has a kennel but he has a habit of dragging his bedding out. This then gets wet and he ends up with nothing to sleep on at night. It drives me mad. So we bought him one of those hessian trampoline style beds where he is off the floor but cant drag it anywhere.
As there is no shelter down the side of the house from the rain my husband had a brainwave, why not recycle the kids plastic cubby house that they never play in. He took the door off and put Judd's bed in...One giant dog house fit for a king...Just need to seal the back windows to stop the draft. He seems to like it.

First Bag Charms go on for sale

The first of my bag charms have gone on for sale in my shop. These cute dangles can be added to your handbag, school bag, purse, pencil case or your keys. Great idea for a christmas gift or stocking filler. I will be adding more colours to my shop in the coming weeks.

A New Week

Well it was a quiet weekend for us. The usual shopping and family over. Finally got the leaking taps fixed. I cant remember the last time I was able to use the cold tap in the bathroom without turning it as hard as I could to stop it dripping.

Today I have been shopping again... I needed to get a birthday present for my daughters friend. She has been invited to his 5th Party. Its fancy dress, so true to form, my darling little tom- boy daughter is going as spiderman.
I really shouldnt go to the craft shop. I only went in to get some fabric to make our dog a new bed for inside. I ended up with the fabric plus a gorgeous selection of new beads...

Another Sneak peak - This gorgeous Heart necklace yet to be named. On an Antique Brass chain, it has a lovely engraved Antique Brass heart pendant with Opaque Czech glass beads.

Sneak Peak

Take a sneak peak at my new necklace designs waiting to be listed in my shop. this style yet to be named is inspired by different shades of copper. I have used the normal reddish shade of copper right through the light coppery tones of the swarovski crystals to the aged look of the antique copper chain. The necklace also has 2 teeny tiny little butterfly charms.

This will probably be slightly more expensive than my normal necklaces but that is due to the amount of chain used. Hope you like it, keep an eye out on my shop for it to be listed

Hi, A big thank you to all who have emailed me to let me know the comments section on my blog wasnt working. I am hoping it is fixed now and Registered users will be able to leave a comment if they wish.

Accounts day

Not an eventful day planned. I really have to catch up on my accounts. I keep putting it off because I dont like seeing how much Iam spending on beads. Have to do it or it all gets a bit crazy. Probably a good day for it. Outside it is cold and raining. I cant take the photos I need for the new necklaces I have made. I always take them outside but there is no protection from the rain.
Our next big project is to create some shelter outside. then I can take photos all the time :)

Swinging Sweetly

These Earrings have just gone on to my shop. I love these Miracle beads, they really glow. I made my mum some earrings with a delicate yellow Miracle beads and they look stunning. I am going to use this design with a lot of other coloured beads I have in my Stash. Keep watching this space in coming weeks for new sets of these

I love Picasa

I have just discovered Picasa Photo Editing. I have been using Photoshop Elements which is really complicated for a novice like me to use. I discovered Picasa from an Etsy forum post and it is amazing. It is really easy to use and helps make your photos look great. New Postage Rates

I have finally revised my postage and packaging rates on my jewelry excluding Bridal jewlery. All my pieces will now be securely shipped in a Pinkdawn Gift bag which will make postage more affordable. I can supply a gift box at an extra cost. This is due to the postal prices shipping out of Australia. All Bridal Jewelry will still be shipped in a Pinkdawn Gift box unless requested otherwise.

New Earrings

These newly listed earrings I have named Rock Pools, the gorgeous colour of the mosaic beads reminds me of little pools of ocean after the tide has gone out. I love Rock pools. The girls love to see what they can find in them..hoping to see a crab.

A great day to be indoors

Well they said it would rain...it is one of those rainy days where you are glad to be inside, cosy and warm. Family dinner tonight with the Inlaws. I have some chicken cooking in the slow cooker. The girls are busy crafting. They love to have paper, toliet roll centres, foil, anything they can cut up and stick back together in an interesting way.

Bracelet

Just listed a favourite bracelet of mine. Named Victorian Rosa. I feel the old rose colours and the antique brass give it a vintage feel. I'm really enjoying working with these beads.

My funny animals

My soppy dog is so scared of my cat, admittedly she can be a bit scary at times. He is a black Cocker Spaniel named Judd. He goes upto her, has a sniff, she stares at him like he is a n alien, then runs back to us as if to say 'im scared mum' ..So cute. This is the bossy cat in question finding a rather cosy spot in my folded quilt. Her name is Loubie. I will have to find a pic of my dog too

I was sat at my desk making a bracelet this afternoon and I could hear this funny noise.... I realised it was my cat snoring her head off from under the table :) My goodness she was loud. I have never heard her snore like that before. Funny thing

New Beads

These are new beads I ordered. Gorgeous Green Mosiacs. In my shop I am about to put on some new earrings made with blue ones of these and also a stunning bracelet made with a pink version. Im not sure what to make with these yet. I have ordered some beautiful rich emerald colour beads and i have some Jet beads....maybe some inspiration
